The primary goal of Dig well project is to make safe drinking water available to those people in need particularly women and children in the most remote rural areas of Africa. Currently Gaap has operations going on in North Eastern Kenya and Southern Somalia. Since 2003 Gaap has played a vital role in providing safe drinking water by digging and repairing seven wells from which over 60,000 people are benefiting. GAAP’s objectives for the Safe Water and Sanitation projects are:

• To build a wind powered water pump with holding facilities for water to be consumed by humans and water to be consumed by livestock
• To increase awareness of hygiene and sanitation issues. The Safe Water and Sanitation projects in North Eastern Kenya and Southern Somalia are engaged in:
• Digging hand build wells by using locals help
• Building water supply systems
• Rainwater-harvesting
• Constructing latrines and providing basic hygiene training. Over the next two years 2012 and 2013 we seek to install 20 new wells which will provide safe and clean drinking water for approximately 200,000 people in North Eastern Kenya and Southern Somalia. Drilling a shallow well without using a machine costs developers between $8,000 and $9,000 US. Using a drill rig to bring in a deep well and a wind powered water pump with a good drinking water would cost around $16,000 US. These projects transform the lives of many people who do not have access to safe and clean water
